Professional Work

This is Heidi a professional Model with the Compton Model Agency.

I spent most of 2 hours with Heidi and we did some indoor shots and some street stuff.  She was very easy to work with and I think the pictures we are quite good, you can see for yourself the images over on the portfolio page here

It looks like I’ve another shot with a lovely young lady by the name of Jess coming up next weeks,  keep your eyes posted on the Portfolio section.

Being a photographer in Rathcoole is all well and good, but not to glamourous. I’m trying to organise a model shoot in the next couple of weeks but for the moment I’ll have to practice on the guitar!

Quite happy with this one.  Its a very cheap Squire Telecaster, even though its probalby the most basic of all my guitars it just has something special about it.  I love to use natural light whenever possible and for this picture it was very possible.

With the winter approaching fast, we may have less light, but on the upside the light we get can be quite useful.  If I wanted to take this shot during the summer I would have had to do it a 6am!

I was messing around with my polarizing filter today because I found out that the light from most LCD monitors is polarized.

If you don’t know what a polarizing filter does, basically its a dark piece of glass, that can be used to block out polarized light, such as reflections from windows. These are great tools for a photographer.

For example, want to take a picture of a car without getting a reflection of lots of junk, want to take a picture through a window at the zoo, want to get more contrast in the sky, put on the polarizing filter. Rotate it so it points at the light source.

So in this image my hand is on the LCD screen and the filter has been rotated to block the light from the screen. However the 2nd reflection of the white light of my hand gives it the halo effect.

Its useful in an abstract sense, but might be harder to use in a real world shot, interesting to play with though.

Well I was around Rathcoole village taking some pictures on Sunday morning just gone. It was a rare sunny day so I had to get out and take a few snap.

The attached image is one of the nicer ones from the park.

I also got a nice snap of the Kilkenny team being escorted out of the village on their way to the All Ireland Final.

I had to put this image up today as its just so miserable and damp outside. Its such a contrast to how it was 2 days ago. So with a bit of luck it will turn around again in another couple of days……..
